Three child labors under the age of 14 have been rescued by the District Child Welfare Committee.
The children were rescued by the DCWC during its monitoring in the hotel and restaurants. Rights activists had urged the DCWC to reduce child labor engaged in hotels and restaurants.
Coordinator of DCWC Usha Rawal said that a 10-year-old girl working in the hotel owned by Pashupati Aryal in Burmeli tol of Bhairahawa and two 12-year-old children working in the card used in making noodles in Bhairahawa were rescued on June 11. She said that the rescued children would be handed over to their parents.
Chief of Labor Office, Butwal Bed Prasad Upadhyaya, Inspector Chintamani Budathoki of the District Police Office and Child Officer Rajya Lakshmi Gupta of District Child Welfare Committee are members of the monitoring committee.
Gupta of the DCWC informed that hotel owners Pashupati Aryal, 40, Chand Bahadur Mahat, 53, and Mahesh Ligal, 40, have been apprehended by the Labor Office Butwal for engaging the children illegally in labor. Chief of labor office Bed Prasad Upadhyaya said that they would be charged under child labor act.
