ASI Ram Kumar Majhi of Nepal Police was seriously injured in an attack by a fuel smuggling gang in Laxminiya, Jahada Rural Municipality-5 of Biratnagar/Morang on February 6. According to police, 21-year-old Bablu Sah of Jahda-7, leader of the gang, who was smuggling diesel to India, attacked Majhi.
ASI Majhi was rushed to the hospital for treatment after he fell to the ground and was bleeding profusely from his face. The injured ASI has sustained injuries in both eyes and a broken nose.
Police have also seized 150 litres of diesel along with three drums and a motorcycle used in diesel smuggling. Border police have complained that they have to do their duty in dangerous situations and are frequently targeted by smugglers.
