Jumla district headquarter remained tense after locals picketed the district police office over the death of a 14-year-old boy citing that he had died due to the injuries inflicted upon him by police in custody.
14-year-old boy Padam Budha of Guthichaur Rural Municipality-3, Gajyangkot died while undergoing treatment. Seven of his friends, including Budha, were at the District Police Office on January 31 for the interrogation on the charge of mobile theft.
On February 12, Budha was taken to the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences for treatment of his injured leg. Due to this serious condition, he was shifted to ICU but he died while undergoing treatment. His relatives claimed that he died due to the injury sustained in a beating from the police while in custody. Meanwhile, the district police stated that he was released after interrogation.
