33-year-old Bhim Kaji Gurung of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-7 of Morang was brutally beaten by a group of "Dhamijhankri" (Spiritual healers) in the name of spiritual healing on February 17. Gurung is a teacher at the local Shree Popular Boarding School. Gurung had a mental illness seven years ago and has been taking regular medicine for six years on the advice of a doctor. His family has spent more than Rs 1.5 million on his treatment however has not recovered.
Krishna, who works as a Dhami (healer), repeatedly tried to hit Bhimkaji with a khukuri and some women and girls are seen repeatedly pushing him on the ground. Unable to bear the pain of the beating, Bhim can be seen asking to kill himself in the video. The video of the assault has now gone viral on YouTube. Police have arrested Krishna and are further investigating the incident.
