Sunsari/June 30 Parbati Chaudhary, 50, of Hansposa VDC-3 has been assaulted by the villagers in the night of June 29 accusing her casting spells of witchcraft on her. Locals- Jeevan Chaudhay, 35 and Phul Maya Kumari, 50, among others had beaten up her. Jeeva, who arrived around 10 pm, thrashed with domestic weapons and a gun. According to the victim, she has resisting the attempts made by Jeevan and Phul Maya to assault Jeevan’s son Michael, 14, hit her with a fuel wood. She was, then, assaulted by all those gathered to see the scene while the police was informed by the same neighbors. Tarahara Area Police Office rescued her. Acting in-charge Pema Dorji said protestors, nearly 300, were arrested. Parbati needed four stitches for her head injury. It is difficult to arrest nearly 300, INSEC staff said.
