A 57-year-old, Dalit man, Bal Bahadur Bishwakarma, of Kankai-5 Tekra was beaten to death in Jhapa on the pretext of caste discrimination. Financially destitute Bal Bahadur was brutally beaten by his neighbour Mohan Ghimire on April 5 and he died on April 8 while undergoing treatment.
According to his family members and neighbours, the Ghimire family has been discriminating against Bal Bahadur and his family for a long time. On the day of the incident, the deceased had gone to talk to Ghimire regarding the discrimination towards him.
