A group of four to five people assaulted a doctor and health assistant in the emergency room of Birat Teaching Hospital in Budhiganga rural municipality of Biratnagar on May 17. Two of the accused are identified as 28-year-old Nischal Shrestha and 25-year-old Anil Shrestha of BudhiGanga-2.
The group of 4/5 people attacked doctor Sudip Regmi and health assistant Nirdosh Basnet for delaying the treatment of 73-year-old Gomadevi Shrestha with chronic diabetes while they were treating the injured of the road accident in the emergency room. Dr. Regmi and Basnet have sustained injuries on their head, face, and various parts of their body from the attack. Both the injured are undergoing treatment.
The hospital has demanded strict action against all those involved in the attack. Police have arrested Nischal and Anil involved in the incident and started an investigation into the incident and the search for the absconding accused is underway.
