Sobha Darji, a 25-year-old, three months pregnant Dalit woman has become a mental patient after being brutally beaten by the family of Devi Magar of Chisang Basti in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-5 of Morang on the false accusation of stealing a mobile SIM card. Sobha, who became a severe mental patient after the beating, is currently undergoing treatment at the psychiatric department of BP Pratisthan in Dharan, Sunsari.
Sobha was kept at home by her family due to financial constraints and was receiving treatment from spiritual healers. According to her husband Umesh Tamang, her health has not improved and she is three months pregnant. According to her husband, doctors have not been able to get a CT scan of Sobha to find out the history of the disease as she is pregnant.

The victim's family has lodged a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Pathari on June 18. According to Harka Bahadur Darji, a 69-year-old father of the victim, Binda Magar, 36, and Pushpa Magar, 34, of Kanepokhari rural municipality-5 have beaten up their three-month-pregnant daughter on the false charge of stealing a mobile phone SIM.
