Kathmandu, July 11
Kathmandu police have detained some civil society leaders who staged a protest outside Singhadarbar, the country’s central administrative complex, on Sunday morning.
Those detained include writers Khagendra Sangraula, Narayan Wagle, Sanjeev Uprety, Archana Thapa, and activist Bimal Aryal among others.
Veteran medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC, who was recently in Yemen, was also present there for the demonstration.
With some key people detained before the protest, the planned event has been thwarted.
Of late, this group has been protesting Prime Minister Oli’s various moves including the dissolution of the House of Representatives. Today, they had gathered there with a demand to sack officials of the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences as they have been reportedly involved in several irregularities.
