Locals have been protesting for the past two days against the decision of the Mahakulung rural municipality of Solukhumbu alleging the municipality of not being able to determine the centre by consensus. According to the public information issued by the village municipality, Sarsila was chosen as the administrative centre after a disagreement in all the four available places, voting was held on July 17.
The locals demanded that the centre should be either in Gattel or Chaukhido of Ward No. 1 of the village municipality. Locals have been chanting slogans and marching in the village centre since July 18 saying that the decision of the people's representative was wrong. The locals who burnt the effigy of village chairman Sagar Kiranti demanded that the decision should be corrected and the demands of the locals should be addressed.
