KATHMANDU, JULY 20

Supporters of KP Sharma Oli have continued staging demonstrations venting their anger against Madhav Kumar Nepal and Pushpa Kamal Dahal after Oli lost his position as prime minister a few days ago. A few dozen youths today joined a protest called by the National Youth Union, a youth wing of CPN-UML led by Oli. The participants wore monkey masks as a symbolic protest against Nepal and Dahal. A Nepali proverb has it that monkeys neither build their own houses nor let others build theirs. The participants also displayed photos of Nepal and Dahal stating 'back-stabbers on the photos, as they marched through the Maitighar- Baneshwor road. A total of 21 lawmakers of Nepal faction and Oli faction of the CPN-UML had cast their vote for Sher Bahadur Deuba in the House of Representatives on July 18 when Deuba sought the vote of confidence in the House.

The participants have accused Nepal, a senior leader of the CPN-UML, of siding with Dahal and creating hurdles for former PM Oli. Nepal and Dahal had supported the major opposition Nepali Congress to form a new government. UML cadres have also been spitting venom against NCP Maoist Centre's Chair Dahal, who once was co-chair of the Nepal Communist Party. Oli himself has been using vengeful and bitter words against Nepal and Dahal, especially after Oli lost his post as PM following the Supreme Court's order to appoint Deuba as PM on July 13. Yesterday also, outraged Oli supporters had staged a mock funeral of Nepal, and Nepal Police personnel had a hard time stopping the agitators.
