Police have arrested three youths from Itahari on the charge of abducting and brutally beating a youth. The arrested are Sangit Thapa, 25, of Itahari-7, Anish Karki, 19, of the same ward and Siddharth Rai, 23, of Ward No. 8, according to the District Police Office, Sunsari.
According to the incident, Nirmal Shrestha of Itahari-4 was taken under control from his house at Plotting of Phulbari Toll in Ward No. 8 on Friday morning and beaten blindfolded, said District Police Chief SP Sanjay Singh Thapa. A team from the Area Police Office, Itahari was mobilized after receiving information that the blindfolded man was being beaten. Police investigation has revealed that the incident was due to a money transaction. According to DSP Arjun KC of Area Police Office, Itahari, the group abducted the victim after he allegedly borrowed money from Sangeet Thapa and refused to return it.
According to DSP KC, Shrestha was taken on a city safari from Itahari-9 Bhojpure Toll on Wednesday afternoon and taken to Sangeet Thapa's house overnight. The victim Shrestha has given a statement to the police that he was taken to Phulbari Toll from the spot on Friday morning and beaten. Police have recovered a blindfold from the detainees.
