Province 1, Udayapur, Katari
Seven political parties have called for a bandh in Katari of Udayapur on Sunday stating that the government had tried to proceed with the construction of the Solu Corridor transmission line using police force. They have accused the government of refusing to provide compensation to the affected locals of Katari Municipality-4 Maruwa along whose private transmission line route passes. They have accused the government of using police force to destroy crops and vegetables of the landowners and arresting protestors. KP Baral, the coordinator of the Struggle Committee formed to address the demands of the locals affected by the transmission line project said that they were compelled to resort to bandh against the government excess.
The political parties have announced a weeklong protest program including a transport strike, and closure of public office against the government excess. They have stated that the children's education and admission process has been affected as the government has deployed a large number of security personnel in schools in the name of providing security for the Solu Corridor transmission line.
