The Central Coordinating Committee of the Tharuhat, Tharuwan National Front has staged a protest assembly with the objective of making the third phase of the Tharuwan Uprising a success. They held a protest assembly in Basantapur of Kathmandu on Tuesday. Participants in the protest presented placards with slogans demanding the release of MP Resham Chaudhary, release of the report of the commission led by Girish Chandra Lal, and release of those convicted in the Tikapur incident. Dances and plays reflecting Tharu culture were also performed in the assembly. The event was attended by leaders of the civil movement as well as other tribal communities. On the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the Tharuhat movement, a demonstration was held at Maiti Ghar Mandla for three days last week.
