Kaski, Kaski Jilla aadalat ma muddha ko thaak.
Cases are piling up at Kaski District Court because of the slow hearing process.
Last fiscal, the court had received 2,632 cases, including those transferred from the previous year. Of them, only (59 per cent) 1,558 cases were finalised. Around 1,074 cases have been transferred for this year, said court staff Dinbandhu Baral.
Baral said the court could not hear many cases as the district judges were engaged in the Constituent Assembly elections for three months. “Though we had a target of finalising 65 per cent cases, we could not meet our target,” added Baral.
The district court has a quota for three judges. Most of the cases filed are of divorce, property partition, relation establishment cases, among others.
Drug cases too are increasing by the year. The court had received 169 drug cases last year, while the number stood at 132 in the previous year.
As many as 35 cases of cheating were filed at the court last year.
The court had collected just Rs 54.4 million last year as against an estimated collection of Rs 101.7 million.
The model district court along with child court in Kaski district court had received 13 cases relating to children last year. Of them, nine were heard at the child court while verdict on the remaining were given at the district court.
