Prem Raj Simkhada, a Gorkhapatra correspondent in Kalikot allegedly received death threats over publishing news. Similarly, Lalit Bista, a journalist working for Radio New Karnali FM, was beaten inside the office. Pamphakumari Shahi, the vice-chairperson of Shubhakalika rural municipality in Kalikot district, had attacked media person Bista inside the office saying that the source of the news was published openly on social media and online.
The FNJ has objected that such action against the journalist by the responsible person belonging to the local body and her husband under any pretext is in itself reprehensible and an act against the press. He also called on journalists and media persons to engage in media work in full compliance with the Code of Conduct for Journalists.
