The Democratic Opposition Socialist Students Association Bara, a sister organization of the main opposition Democratic Socialist Party Nepal, staged a demonstration in Kalaiya demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut. Authorities had raided the chief minister's office and demanded that Raut resign on moral grounds alleging that he defamed Province 2. Chairman Santosh Yadav has accused the state government of taking a commission in the campaign to save the daughter. During the Kalaiya Nagar demonstration led by Santosh Yadav, president of the Students' Union of Bara, the students demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister and support for the investigation.
