A man has been murdered in a khukuri attack, in Betani, Suddhodan rural municipality-3 of the Rupandehi district, on Sunday night. Another one has been injured.
The victim has been identified as Abadhesh Chamar, Susta-3 of the Nawalparasi West district. He used to work for a plywood factory in Betani.
Chamar’s co-worker, Ravi Singh, a permanent resident of India, had attacked him, causing serious injuries, DSP Satya Narayan Thapa, the spokesperson of the District Police Office. Chamar breathed his last while being taken to a nearby hospital.
DSP Thapa says the two workers had a fight under the influence of alcohol, leading to the khukuri attack.
After Singh injured Chamar, he had also attacked Chamar’s father Gopi Chand, who sustained injuries. He is undergoing treatment at the Lumbini Provincial Hospital.
DSP Thapa says Singh has been arrested for further investigation.
