Nepali Congress district Convention: Clash in the polling station in Pyuthan: 12 injured

A clash broke out between cadres of Nepali Congress (NC) and district chairperson during the counting of votes in the polling station of the Nepali Congress District Convention in Pyuthan municipality-7 situated at Swargadwari Multiple Campus on November 23.

12 persons including 3 policemen were injured in the clash. Among the injured are Krishna Basel, a 28-year-old resident of Swargaduwari Municipality-6, Kamal Gharti Magar, a 24-year-old resident of Swargadwari Municipality-1, Kuber Pun, a 26-year-old resident of Nauvahini Rural Municipality-6, 23-year-old Binod Rijal, 25-year-olds Shridhar KC, Bijay Rijal, Ghanshyam KC, 24-year-old Padam KC, and Khemraj Pandit, a 55-year-old resident of Pyuthan Municipality-7.

The injured policemen are identified as 38-year-old Basanta Pandit of the Armed Police Force, 23-year-old Chandra Bahadur Gahamgar, and 34-year-old Gopal GC. They were injured while trying to control the clash. Police had to fire 14 rounds of tear gas and two rounds in the air to control the clash, said DSP Satyanarayan Thapa of the District Police Office.
