A 14-year-old girl has said that the district police office of Kanchanpur denied registering her complaint of rape on July 22. At a press meet on August 12, the girl said that she was raped by Basanta Rawal of Bhim Datta Municipality-12. She added that police denied registering their case for "lack of roof". The victim said that she was raped by the accused on many occasions. She was working as a domestic help in Rawal's house. It was also revealed that the accused made her undergo abortion in Banabasa after she became pregnant. Sarada Chand, Chairperson of Women and Elderly Service Center, in the press meet said that the victim is taking shelter at the center after the police denied registering her complaint. SP Rajendra Prasad Chaudhary of district police office said that the case could not be registered due to the lack of proof. He further said that the case is under investigation.
