A clash has erupted during the election for the leadership of the CPN-UML Kailali District Committee. Clashes broke out between rival supporters of the candidates vying for leadership positions in the party as the Election Committee repeatedly postponed the election schedule.

A scuffle broke out between the incumbent president and presidential candidate Ratan Thapa and another presidential candidate Rana Bahadur Chand's faction after the delegates raised the issue of delay in polling. During the clash, the youths threw ballot boxes and scattered ballot papers. Election in Kailali has become uncertain after the clash.
