Lumbini, Rupandehi, Butwal

A group affiliated with Nepal Magar Youth Association has burned the effigy of  CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at Butwal in Rupandehi.

The group burned Oli's effigy protesting against a recent statement given by him saying that Lakhan Thapa was not Nepal's first martyr but it was Bakavir.

The group also chanted slogans against Oli at Butwal's highway intersection.

During the protest rally, Nepal Magar Association Lumbini State Vice President Dhani Ale, Rupendehi District Secretary Tharka Bahadur Bahraghare, Sonu Thapal, and others said that they would stage agitation till Oli withdraws his statement and apologizes.

Lakhan Thapa Magar was declared the first martyr of Nepal by the then Council of Ministers in 2072.  Protestors stated that Oli's statement had humiliated Lakhan Thapa and the entire Magar community.
