RAJBIRAJ: The District court, Saptari, has sentenced Dev Kumar Sada, a resident of Madhupatti VDC-3, Saptari, with five years of imprisonment after finding him guilty of raping a woman from Saptari. A single bench of the District Court judge, Nawaraj Dahal, gave the verdict. The court also ordered Sada to pay Rs. 5,000 to the victim as compensation, Nawaraj Dulal, an official at the court, said. The culprit, who had been released on a bail by the decision of the judge Dahal on July 24, has been absconding. The 26-year-old was convicted of raping the 20-year-old woman threatening her of life in her house while she was sleeping alone. The victim herself later had a medical check-up done on June 28 at the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital to confirm the sexual assault. The Area Police Office, Kalyanpur, registered a case of rape against alleged Sada on July 1 soon after the incident was made public by various media.
