The Cadres of Nepali Congress (NC) padlocked the district office in Khotang on April 25, agitating over the decision of mayoral candidacy. The agitated NC cadres expressed their dissatisfaction at the decision to make Dharmaraj Pokhrel the party's candidate for the post of mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi although all ward committees, municipal committee and district committee had recommended party's district deputy chairperson Tirtharaj Bhattarai for the post. 

The Nepali Congress province 1 general secretary Umesh Thapa said that the discussion was being held at a meeting of the state committee to reconsider the decision.
