Nepali Congress (NC) central member Maikulal Balmiki has reported an attempted attack on him. According to Balmiki, Nepali Congress cadres and ward member of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan city Ward 10 Manoj Shahi tried to attack him on Thursday night at Adarshanagar, ward 10 of Nepalgunj. Shahi who was vying to be the candidate from NC for the post of chairperson of ward 10 in the local election was unhappy after the party decided to make another cadre of the party Nara Bahadur Bista the candidate for this post.

Balmiki stated that Shahi hit him with a scooter and tried to run the scooter over him three times. Shahi also hurled insults at him, he reported.
