Distribution of Kantipur Daily Obstructed

Kathmandu/ August 21 The distribution of Kantipur National Daily and The Kathmandu Post has been obstructed by CPN-Maoist affiliated trade Union in the morning of August 21. They have obstructed the distribution by entering into the premises of Kantipur Publication office at Tinkune and Kalikasthan Baidhyakhana early morning. Police have arrested few people involved in obstructing the distribution of publications from Kalikasthan and Tinkune, said DSP Ramesh Tamang of Metropolitan Police Circle, Baneshwor. The arrestees are Pushkar Shrestha, Janma Dev Jaisi, Shyam Pudasaini, Deep Bahadur Khatri, Ramesh Dahal, Ratna Bahadur Chalise, Rajendra Koirala, Shiva Gautam and Achut Khadka. The workers employed at the publications have started protest since August 19 with seven points demand, including minimum wage, ending of contractual system and increment of dearness allowance, according to Ram Deep Acharya, central coordinator of All Nepal Revolutionary Trade Union, labor wing of CPN-Maoist. Meanwhile, the publication, through a press release has expressed its serious concern over the obstruction in distribution of its publications. It said that the CPN-M affiliated trade union, guided by political motivation, tried to obstruct the regular publication of Kantipur Daily and The Kathmandu Post by taking external help.
