The district court of Saptari on August 25 has slapped 3 years imprisonment to three persons each for making a 14-year-old girl undergo abortion. A bench of district court judge Nabaraj Dahal issued the sentence against Dambar Yadav, 55, 48-year-old mother of the girl and nurse Saroj Thapa, 65, of Rajbiraj Municipality-7 confirming their involvement in the abortion. The girl had become pregnant following rape by Yadav. Meanwhile, the court has slapped 10 days jail sentence to the girl. The girl was 5 months pregnant after Yadav raped her after luring her on various occasions in March 2011. They had made the girl undergo abortion at a local Dipika Lama Pharmacy in Rajbiraj-3 on August 15, 2011. District Public Health Office Inaruwa had presented a report on the medical test o fthe irl confirming the abortion. The District Police Office Sunsari had forwarded the report to the DPO Saptari said that the abortion took place in Saptari. The girl, Yadav and her mother were released on general date by the District Court while Thapa has been absconding after a warrant was issued against her.
