An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off near the Parliament building in New Baneshwor of Kathmandu Metropolitan city in Kathmandu on the morning of polling day for local election on May 13. Police had initially kept the incident secret. According to SP Dineshraj Mainali of Kathmandu Police Circle Teku, a person detonated cylinder bomb before the 1 number gate of the parliament building at 2:00 am in the morning on Friday. Police are looking for the person. Police suspect, a political group opposing the election had detonated the IED to asserts its presence. Pamphlets belonging to 'NCP Siwadi' was recovered from the site of the incident. No damage was reported in the incident.
