Cadres of political parties resort to vandalism in Siraha stating more votes found during counting than actual number of votes cast during voting

Candidates in the local election and their supporters clashed with the police in Laxmipur Pattari rural municipality-4, on May 17 stating that more votes than actual number of votes cast was found. Cadres of political parties except Nepali Congress objected and started violent demonstration after 823 extra votes than recorded during voting were found during vote counting. According to rural municipality Election Officer Devi Prasad Subedi, there were 3,215 voters in the ward of whom 2,392 had cast their votes But during counting the votes, 3163 valid votes and 52 invalid votes were found. 

According to DSP Shubhash Budhathoki of the District Police Office, Siraha, the party cadres started pelting stones at the rural municipal office vandalizing a Jeep bearing plate number1 Jha 506. To control the situation, police fired 7 rounds of tear gas.
