SC Overturns Appellate Court Decision to Release Rape Attempt Accused

Saptari, Balika balatkar prayash ka aropi The Supreme Court of Nepal has annulled the decision of the Rajbiraj Appellate Court which released a man accused of attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl. Nagendra Prasad Chaudhary, 33, of Chandani Chok in Sitapur VDC-1 was released by the Appellate Court on general date on February 7. Division bench of Balram Bishta and Mohan Karki had overturned the Saptari District Court judge Kamal Prasad Pokharel’s December 13, 2013 order of remanding the accused in custody. The Office of District Attorney had move SC against Appellate Court decision. Chaudhary is accused of trying to rape the girl in the night of July 25, 2013 by breaking in the door of the shop adjoining her home. The family of the victim had filed an FIR two days later and was registered on July 30. The girl’s medical checkup was conducted at BPKIHS, Dharan the following day. The accused, freed following the Appellate Court order, remains absconding. Man
