Locals of Bangalachuli-1 staged a symbolic demonstration on June 22, in Dang protesting against Sonapur Cement Industry's alleged attempt to run trippers (heavy vehicles) in the area by force. According to the locals, Sonapur Cement Industry tried to run 31 trippers without any agreement with the locals in their new mine. The locals who accuse that road infrastructure around the area have been destroyed due to the operation of Ghorahi Cement for a long time are worried that the condition would be worsened due to the opening of new mine. They also lament that the locals are not receiving any economic benefit from the operation of t he mines. Ward chairperson of Bangalachuli-1 Bisnu Kunwar said that the operation of trippers were been halted after local's agitation. The demonstrators lay on the streets as a form of demonstration. The chairperson of Bangalachuli-1 further added that the locals were concerned because roads are narrow, houses below and above the road are unsafe and there was a risk of dust pollution.
