The principal of Deurali Secondary School of Dhankuta municipality-8, Santang, Yam Bahadur Basnet sustained injuries after being assaulted during a meeting inside his office at 9 pm on July 10.  He also sustained broken leg after he fell while escaping from the situation.

The incident took place during a meeting to discuss the incident of sexual misconduct on a female student by a teacher at the school, Chandra Kumar Rai. There were victim's family, members of parent's association, school management committee members in the meeting. The agitated family members and other guardians circled the accused teacher and submitted him to police earlier at 8pm the same day. Then, the agitated group assaulted principal Basnet, as per his statement. 

Basnet is a person with physical disability and also a past central committee member of National Disabled Federation. He is now being treated at Bedanta hospital in Itahari after primary treatment at the Dhankuta district hospital.
