A clash broke out when the police went to rescue a man who was held hostage in Sarlahi on October 15. 6 policemen were injured and 3 rounds of tear gas were fired during a clash at Babarganj, Chandranagar rural municipality 2 of Sarlahi when they went to rescue 62-year-old Ganesh Raya Kusawaha who was held captive by relatives of Dharmendra Sah. Dharmendra's 20-year-old daughter had gone missing with 22-year-old son of Bhakti Yadav on September 29. Ganesh Raya who was held captive is the uncle of the 22-year-old youth.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Yadav informed that the clash took place when police team went to rescue the hostage after being reported about the incident. When the police team went to rescue Raya, about 250/300 people gathered and threw stones at the police and set fire to an unmarked Apache motorcycle. According to DSP Yadav, six policemen were injured while trying to control the clash. District Police Office, Sarlahi informed that the police detained 15 stone persons, but later released 8 persons and detained 7 persons and started further investigation.
