Entrepreneurs of Jhapa staged a sit-in on November 8, in front of the district administrative office demanding to revoke the bank and financial sector's increased interest rates. Officials and representatives of various associations in the district, including Jhapa Industry and Commerce Association, Jhapa Industry Association, Property Dealers Association of Nepal, ICAN and Birtamod Industry and Commerce Association, participated in the staged sit-in at the district administration office. The businessmen protested at the District Administration Office, Jhapa and submitted a memorandum to Assistant Chief District Officer Rudra Neupane.
After the epidemic of covid-19, the country's economy is shrinking and the laxity in economic activities is directly affecting the lives of ordinary people, including ordinary businessmen. They demanded that banks and financial institutions should return the increased interest rate by not providing loans and increasing the interest rate in an unusual way.
