The ward secretary of Khandbari municipality-8 38-year-old Raj Kumar Rai of Khandbari municipality-1 has accused the patrolling police of physically assaulting him on January 15 evening while he was with his family. The victim alleged that the patrolling police verbally abused him and slapped him.

Police denied Rai's allegation and alleged that the incident rather took place at another site during Makar Shankranti festival. Police further added that Rai was under the influence of alcohol and when he was asked to leave, he verbally abused the police and he pushed them.
