Police on January 28 rescued 21-year-old Rajib Basnet of Birtamod-3 in Jhapa who was abducted by Raj Kumar Bhandari, a business partner of Basnet's father on January 19. According to the police, the Bhandari abducted Basnet over a financial dispute with the latter's father. The accused hired people to abduct Rajib after his father was unable to pay back the debt. The abductors had asked for ransom to free Basnet after his abduction. Police are further investigating the incident.
