Mostakim of Parsa Dewad VDC-7, has been promised justice on December 24 after a discussion held at District Police Office, Mahottari. Mostakim had divorced Khatun over telephone from Saudi Arabia where he was working as a migrant worker in May 2012, six months after he went to Saudi Arabia. According to SP Saurav Rana, following the publication of the news on divorce of a Muslim woman over telephone in INSEConline and other media, the police summoned both sides for discussion. In the discussion, Mostakim agreed to register their marriage, sign for her citizenship certificate application and register the birth of their children. Khatun had planned with her husband to utilize the remittance in building a new house, buying land and sending children to the school. Following the talaq by the husband, Khatun was forced out of her home with her young children by his mother-in-law and his aunt. She was living with her parents since then.
