The Rastriya Prajantantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) has announced a series of protest programmes against the ruling parties , claiming that they had sidelined it from the constitution drafting process. The fourth largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) has decided to picket the CA building on Sunday with the support from various pro-hindu groups. It has also announced to submit memorandum to CA Chairman Subash Nembang and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, demanding Nepal be reinstated as a Hindu State in new constitution. The party has formed a central-level struggle committee under Vice-chairman Rajib Parajuli for the purpose. The party has claimed the new constitution will not be promulgated by the January 22 deadline purely because of the incompetence of the major parties. According to party's assistant spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, the protest was necessary as the major parties underestimated the RPP-N strength. "We have realised that the parties are not serious in constitution drafting. Therefore, there is a need for a stern protest to build pressure on the parties," said Shrestha. The party has also decided not to compromise on its agendas of Hindu state, revival of monarchy and federalism. It has threatened to boycott the constitution if it is promulgated without holding a referendum on the three issues.The party had last week organised the Mechi-Mahakali chariot procession to drum up public support for a Hindu state.
