District Police Office has arrested Janaki Shahi of Ramnakot VDC-2 on February 6 on the charges of attempted trafficking of a 21-year-old woman of Mumra VDC-8. The victim said that Janaki took her to Kathmandu on December 22, 2013, promising her marriage with a rich man. There she arranged a meeting with a man in a hotel who identified himself as Uprendra Yadav of Bhairahawa. Yadav told the victim that he worked as an agent in Shristi Manpower at New Baneshwar, Kathmandu. He further told them that he was ready to marry the victim but would not be able to provide Rs 300,000 as demanded by Janaki. Janaki and the victim came back after the deal did not materialize, the victim mentioned in her FIR filed on February 6. DSP Laxman Gurung said that they were investigating the case.
