Devendra Basnet, the reporter for Nagarik daily has been threatened in relation to one news article. According to Basnet, a man identifying himself as Ghanshyam Rijal of Bhaluwang threatened him over the telephone for his news on the sale of Chure rangeland. Earlier, Basnet had filed a news report on public land in Lalmatiya VDC-8. The locals had criticized the fact that their settlement was named as Chure land. Locals’ complaint was published in the same days as a corrigendum. Meanwhile, FNJ Dang has issued a statement on February 26 condemning the incident. The statement says that anybody unhappy with the news can refute the news or take the legal course but the threat against the journalist was regrettable. I
