One held for murder over eve-teasing brawl

Police have arrested a person in connection with the murder of a boy following a quarrel over an alleged incident of eve-teasing in Chabahil, Kathmandu. The Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested one Bhesh Bahadur Pandey, 29, from Dolalghat in Kavre district on Sunday for the murder of 19-year-old Ayush Gorkhali at Gangahiti Chowk in Chabahil, Kathmandu, on December 13 last year. Pandey alias Rajendra hails from Thori in Parsa district. Accused Pandey and his two friends were passing comments at two ladies who were purchasing groceries at a local store in Gangahiti Chowk, Chabahil, just then the group of Ayush Gorkhali intervened over the eve-teasing, police said. Enraged at the protest, furious Pandey attacked Ayush with a wooden plank and fled the scene. Ayush sustained critical injuries in his head and was taken to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on December 19, police said. Following the incident, Pandey has been working as a sand miner at Dolalghat. Police arrested him from his workplace and sent him to Metropolitan Police Circle in Gaushala for further investigation.
