A leader of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) has mistreated and threatened to kill a journalist on the evening of April 21. Mahesh Kumar Das, Mahottari reporter of Nagarik News Daily and news coordinator of Radio Mirchi FM 89.6 Mhz received the threat after the radio station broadcasted news regarding the involvement of TMLP leader Shankar Mishra (Shahi) in the smuggling of betel nut. Mishra in inebriated condition arrived at the office of the radio station along with a helper while Das was leaving the radio station after the 7.30 news and pressured him to broadcast the news in his favor. He threatened to shoot me dead even when I told him that his version would be aired in the morning news, said Mishra. Broadcasting of the radio was interrupted for some time after Mishra created a scene in the radio station.
