Dozens of protestors and police officers were injured in a clash during vehicular strike by Dalits

Various Dalit organisations affiliated to 10 parties of the Constituent Assembly have called an hour long transportation strike demanding the constitution be cordial to Dalits. The strike was called from 10 to 11 am at Bijulibazaar in the Capital by organisations active for the rights of the Dalit s and Dalit leaders associated with different political parties. Injuries were reported on both sides when police baton charged the protestors to resume the blocked traffic. Lawmakers Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, Jitu Gautam, Daljit Sunar and Coordinator of the Dalit Rights Struggle Committee and former lawmaker Binod Pahadi, and rights activists -- Kamala Hemchuri, Suru Sunar, Ganesh BK and Padam Sundas - among others were injured in the incident. Police also arrested some protestors involved in blocking the traffic. Most of them have received head injuries and they are undergoing treatment at Minbhawan-based Civil Service Hospital.
