Citing that the leaders of the major political parties had failed to fulfil the demands of the citizens and had instead given orders to shoot the demonstrators, protesters in Surkhet have taken out the mock funeral of the leaders of the four major parties from Birendranagar. They have also taken out the mock funeral rite of the home minister Bam Dev Gautam. For the past eleven days political parties, civil society members, entrepreneurs and general people in Surkhet have been protesting against the 6-state model of federalism proposed by the major parties. They have rued the division of mid-western region and have strongly demanded the political parties to establish the mid-western region as a separate state with Surkhet as it's capital. Even folks in Karnali districts are holding out protests in solidarity with the people of Surkhet.
