Normal life in Chitwan has been affected due to the bandh imposed by the United Dalit Rights Forum Nepal today.
Long and short route transportation to and from Chitwan has been halted due to the bandh. Educational institutions and market places are reported closed since early morning due to the bandh.
The local administration has deployed a large number Nepal police and armed police force men in the marketplaces to prevent any untoward incident. Meanwhile trucks are being escorted to their destination by the police.
Dalit activists and cadres of the Forum are staging protest at Pulchowk of Narayangadh. They have been demanding 3%, 5% and 10% additional quota for dalit representation at the central, state and local level respectively. Similarly they have also demanded Nepal to be declared a state free from untouchability and discrimination.
