Indigenous leaders warn they would not accept constitution without identity based federalism

Leaders of indigenous community have warned that they would not accept the new constitution without identity based federalism. In a program held on Thursday in Dharan to mark the 17th anniversary of Kirat Yakthum Chumlung speakers including NEFIN chairman Nagendra Kumal, Malla K Sundar, General Secretary of Limbuwan Mukti Morcha Muksahang Menyangbo and Federal Socialist Forum leader Rakam Chemjong iterated that the indigenous group would repudiate a constitution that does not include identity based federalism. Speaking at the program Chief guest Bhumi Bikram Nembang accused Nepali Congress of making indigenous community's demand for identity and rights irrelevant and CPN-UML of supporting Nepali Congress's action. Also speaking at the program chairman of Federal Limbuwan Party, Kumar Lingden, demanded the establishment of Limbuwan state comprising of nine districts in the east of Arun river based on historical background. He further added that the Limbuwan State would be a common home to people of all castes living in the region. Former chairman of NEFIN Pasang Sherpa warned that they would selectively shootout those who oppose identity based federalism.
