One person was killed and three others including nine policemen were injured here in a clash that took place between demonstrators and police on Friday evening.
The demonstrators have taken to the streets for the past six days demanding an investigation to find the truth behind the alleged murder of a student in Byas municipality. A resident of Manud in ward no 7 of the municipality, 16-year-old Purna Bahadur Aley was found dead in mysterious circumstances in the Adikabi Bhanu Bhakta Campus premises on Sunday.
Aley was a student of Grade 10 in Maharshi Bedbyas Sanskrit Secondary School in Damauli. He was reportedly living with his elder sister in ward no 1 of the municipality.
Following the incident, the demonstrators have called for action against those behind the death, which they have claimed to be a murder. Police have already arrested two girls and a boy for an investigation into the incident. The case is under investigation, according to Police Inspector Prem Shanker Chaudhary.
The demonstration, however, took a violent turn on Friday evening, with one person killed in police action.18-year-old Roshan Dura a resident of Bhadagaon in Byas municipality-1 succumbed to bullet injuries at the Manipal teaching hospital in Pokhara last night.
Nine police personnel and three demonstrators were also injured in the clash.
Meanwhile, an all-party discussion was held this morning to address the situation that has been deteriorating by the day. "We have urged the demonstrators to exercise restraint and not allow the situation to go out of hand. We are very sensitive toward the demands raised by them", said Chief District Officer Mahadev Pantha.
