Suspect in child abduction case nabbed in Gorkha

Police on Friday arrested an alleged kidnapper of a little girl who went missing from her home in Padeli, of Gorkha district two days ago. Six-year-old Smriti Bamam of Takukot VDC-8, who currently resides in the district headquarters with her family, was reportedly lured while she was playing at her home and then abducted by 18-year-old Simran Sunar of Pipaltar VDC, Dhankuta. Following a complaint from the parents of the missing child, the police launched a search. According DSP Basanta Rajaure of the District Police Office (DPO), Gorkha, Sunar transported the child to Kathmandu on September 17, Thursday. She was detained while trying to transport the child to Nuwakot on the same day. A team of police approached them for questioning after it grew suspicious of Sunar's activities. After their identities were confirmed by the police in Gorkha, the missing child was rescued and sent to her family in Gorkha. Sunar told the police that she was only following the instructions from other people. The police suspect involvement of other groups in the kidnapping. Sunar is currently under the custody of police for further investigation, informed Inspector Deepak Shrestha.
