2015-10-07

Madhes, Saptari, Shambhunath

The Free Madhesi Youth Group has set a Chinese flag on fire at Portaha Chok, East-West Highway on October 7. Before torching the flag, the group held a rally that began from Kankalini Secondary School going through the Chok at Bhardaha VDC and concluding at Portaha Chok. The participants chanted slogans including “China Go Back”, “Long Live Indian Support to Madhes Agitation”. The rally leader Shankar Khidhari said that the flag was torched because China had welcomed the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal, had not supported Madhes agitation and spoken against it. He added that such a program was organized to exert pressure on the government and three parties to meet their demands. Rajendra Kumar Raut, 26, of Bhardaha VDC-1 and Ram Krishna Raut, 62, of Portaha VDC-2 have died in police firing since the unrest began. Meanwhile, the UDMF affiliated youth and student front have apologized to the people for the difficulties they are facing for the last 54 days. Manohar Kumar Pokhrel
