Morcha cadres clash with police in Saptari

Over two dozen persons were injured when clash broke out between cadres of Madhesi Morcha and police personnel in Bhardaha and Rupani of Saptari district Sunday night. The clash began when Morcha cadres attempted to foil police effort to escort stranded vehicles to their destinations. Police began to remove agitating cadres from the East West Highway from 11 pm last night. Seventeen Morcha leaders and cadres were arrested by police during the scuffle, said Saptari police spokesperson DSP Narayan Prasad Chimariya. Police also fired five shells of tear gas to disperse the protestors.
